Research and Development

Heath Tecna has undertaken a R&D program to develop new materials and processes for future customer aircraft interiors.

Current programs include:

Developing new lightweight sandwich board for Heath Tecna’s future OEM programs.
Providing a complete range of lightweight boards for customers to procure for their own programs. This new lightweight range must meet all the mechanical requirements as well as stringent flammability specifications in the most cost effective way possible.

The panel range will include materials such as carbon, glass and Kevlar with phenolic resin systems and thermoplastics may also feature in addition.

Heath Tecna will have the capability to internally qualify the panel range with its testing equipment, including the capability to abuse load test manufactured items such as stowage doors and diaper boards.

Complex mouldings are forming an increasingly major part of the Heath Tecna’s development program due to the growth in airline requirements for monuments with curved features for first and business class cabins. This development process ensures the product is aesthetically pleasing while meeting airline regulatory specifications and maintaining cost effectivity.
